Online Communication

Shelly, the cell phone
(figure 1)
Hello all! My name is Shelly the cell phone. That's me over there to the right! (figure 1)  I'm here to tell you about how important online communication is to me. I am a big tool when it comes to online communication. People love me for everything I can do and for everything I can hold inside my brain. In everyday life you see everyone walking around with cell phones like me in their hand or up to their ear. The world is revloving and I hold all the different types of online communication. Do you know what the four types of online communication are? Take a moment and think about it! ........................Alright! Long enough, the four types of online communication are e-mails, chat rooms, instant messaging and social media.

                                                     E-mail

(figure 2)
Let's start off with the good old e-mail. I can store lots of e-mails on my phone. E-mails are more grown up communication. You see lots of adults e-mail about work, plans in the future, etc. Not so much for you guys. When using an e-mail you have many different options. You can add in the ever so cool photo you took a couple of minutes ago or when you get older and have to write papers you can attach it then send to whoever you want.  E-mails are a way to talk with other people through simple and informal conversation. It is a very fast process and it happens in a blink of the eye. As you soon as you press send it's in the person's inbox right away (shown in figure 2). The picture above is lovely lady opening up her e-mail on her laptop.

                               Chat-rooms
Now chat-rooms, that's a type of communication used for adults. Chat-rooms are different types of communication where they can talk to a certain amount of people who have the same interest (figure 3). There is fun to chat-rooms. You can pick what room you want to be in! You get to decide how many people you want to talk to and you can also decide if you want to go into a chat-room with people who have the same interest.

                                                              Instant Messaging
Instant messaging is something more commonly used for kids your age. It is very simple chatting with one other person. You get to make up your own cool username so everyone can see it and recognize you by that name. You would love it! You can change the color and font to whatever you are feeling.  It is an easy way to talk with friends without having me! You can pull it up on your home computer and chat away with your friends. It is a free online communication that is informal and perfect for kids like you.

All different types of social media
(figure 4)

                   Social Media
Lastly, we have the ever so popular, social media. Social media can be used on me or on the computer. This is such a large form of online communication lately. There are so many different kinds of social media and all of them are able to show different ways of communication such as pictures, statuses, messaging, etc. Some different type of social media are Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, etc (figure 4). Each vary what they have on their site. For example, Instagram shows pictures and you can like it or comment on it. You scroll down and see lots of different peoples pictures. Hey! Do you guys know which social media is most used? Think real hard...Facebook it is! Facebook allows the users to post statues, share pictures, message each other, like statues, comment, etc. It is very popular. Social Media in general are very important in today's society. It is becoming more the way people communicate with. You can even get social media on me! All different kinds of cell phones have places where you can download apps. Then you can use me some more and communicate some more!
