Are you someone who's always
on the go and don't have time to go shopping in a store or just absolutely hate
waiting in line to pay for your items? Fear no more! Online shopping makes
shopping easier and more convenient than ever! You can online shop from your
smartphone, computer, IPod, Ipad, tablet, or any object that grants you
internet. Online shopping is "the act of purchasing products or services
over the internet, (Mallapradgada, Chandkala & Qing, 2016). So instead of
wasting your time playing games online or waiting in aggravating lines at the
store, hop onto any device with internet and shop away! Isn't it exciting
getting a package sent to you and ripping it open to reveal your gift? It's
like Christmas all over again without waiting until December to get it! There's
hundreds upon hundreds as sites to choose from to make your experience as
stress free as possible!
What's so good about online shopping?
You're probably thinking,
"Who cares? If I want something, I'll just go to the store to get
it." But why leave the comfort of your home? On the online community,
stores online more variety, discreet shopping, better prices and it's all at
the tip of your fingers (Renita, 2013). Wouldn't you want to be able to
customize that perfect pair of sneakers that you can't find in stores? Well,
online shopping might be the thing for you! Even if your trying to surprise a
friend with a gift or just don't want them copying something that you bought,
just know that your item will be shipped to your home in a package that can
hide the item from nosy neighbors! Chances are, you may end up saving money if
you find the right website.
But how will you find the
right site to purchase your items? Don't worry, online retailers focus on
playfulness or enjoyment of the site along with the visual appeal and place it with
the participation and collaboration of service excellence and consumer return
to purchase an item ( Shobeiri, Mazaheri & Larchoche, 2016). As a younger
kid, you want a website that isn't hard to look around, catches your eye, and
gives you the product you ordered and if
there was a problem, they could fix it fast because who likes waiting? Don't
waste time on a website that's a complete eyesore! I don't think glasses were
on your shopping list!
What's
the catch about it though?
Of course with good, comes
the bad. You will need to be aware of the websites you choose to shop from
especially since you'll be giving important information like your name,
address, credit card number and phone number. In the article by Koksal and
Penez (2015), they mention how important it is to check the security of the
website. Most websites will have a "lock" where the URL is to let you
know if the site your shopping on will protect your information (Peyper, 2015).
Be cautious of your surrounding because you don't know who's lurking on the
internet! It may be a good idea to let your parents look over the site before
you purchase those rad sneakers. You don't want to have to change your identity
before your 18 just because of someone overseas taking all your personal
information. But could the future change all this?
With technology growing and
becoming more and more mainstream, online shopping will most likely be
increasing as well. Online statistics show that 40% of internet users buy
products online and that the online sales will nearly increase by 9% by 2018
(Peyper 2015). They even came up with what's known as an e-wallet which is an
online wallet that contains all your card information so checking out is just a
few simple clicks (Peyper 2015). This e-wallet will make online shopping even
more convenient and easier than going to the store! If you're like me, dealing
with social interaction in the store seems to get harder and harder. Why not
sit at home and have your products delivered with little contact with the
outside world! Let's get shopping online!
